Ben has been a professional graphic designer since 1996, working for a succession of ad agencies, web startups, record labels, and publishers. He currently lives in New York where he is Creative Director for Proton Radio and a designer at the most recognized book publisher in North America. Ben is also art director for Fade Records, Frisky Records, Apollo, and his own Olaris Records.
Under the name Royal Sapien, Ben has released countless original tunes and remixes on prominent progressive house and breaks labels earning plays from Armin Van Buuren and Markus Schulz. His recent remixes of Imogen Heap's Ellipse have garnered attention from Imogen herself as well as Frou Frou partner-in-crime Guy Sigsworth. As a DJ, he has played at clubs spanning both coasts including Pacha, Qool, Sullivan Room, and his own one-off events. His mixes have been featured on John Digweed's Transitions, XM, Sirius, Proton Radio, friskyRadio, and his special edition Transitions podcast has been downloaded more than 90,000 times.
